Rivenwoodcrafts Education

I offer individual and group instruction in traditional stool and chair making, along with basic green woodworking techniques.

In a weekend course we cover the tools, techniques, and principles of green woodworking.  Additionally, students construct their own shaving horse - an essential tool for those interested in more advanced green woodworking projects.

Ladderback stool and chair making courses are three and five days, respectively.  In these intensive workshops, students begin with a raw long and build their own beautiful, durable chair or stool, completing the project with a hand-woven seat.  Class size is limited to six so as to maximize available individual attention and instruction.

I am available to travel and organize a workshop at your site or host students at mine.  Students within communting distance to Vermont's Champlain Valley who are unable to commit to an entire weekend or more, may inquire about setting up a custom schedule and spread the process over the course of weeks.
